“We are living the dream at Glastonbury!”

Glastonbury returned this summer after three long years to approximately 200,000 people and many of our members were ecstatic to be back in the festival field once more.

Oxfordshire based award-winning restaurant and NCASS member, Taste Tibet, gave a roundup of what they’ve enjoyed most over the last month since the return of festivals:

“Everyone has been asking about Glastonbury.

In fact Hay Festival was arguably more exciting (if you’re into books, that is). I personally spent a lot of time hanging out in the bookshop seeking out the celebs and watching stocks of our own book diminish quickly by the day (we sold lots of copies and did many impromptu signings). Was the highlight peddling momos to Joe Wicks or the random chat with Michael Rosen at the back of the stall? A tough call.

But everyone wants to know about Glastonbury. Most of you seem to have forgiven our us our long absence from Magdalen Road for this festival alone. And it was epic, of course. On our final day we had our biggest trading day ever, but we also found time to go see the big bands, laze in hammocks, shop for fairy wings (not Chef!) and party backstage. Tilda Swinton came for curry two days in a row (chicken, with two veg momos a time). Last-minute fridge failures and operating on 5 hours sleep a night aside… We are of course living the dream.

Here are a few things we learned from our month on the road:

– Our team is awesome! Really, they are the best. We are losing some key members of staff come the end of the summer, but we have a great template for what we are looking for going forwards (warm, friendly, hard-working – is this you? Please get in touch if you’d like to join us).

– Oxford people are amazing. There were 499 other food stalls at Glastonbury, but our loyal regulars still trekked from one side of the festival to the other to get their momos. Thank you.

– Move over momos! Himalayan curry makes for a great breakfast option, especially when you’ve not yet been to bed.

–  Our kids are finally old enough to help out! Customer service could do with a little work, but Master and Little Miss were ace at getting rice in boxes and soy on momos. We’ve dreamed of this moment since year dot and find it very strange now that it’s actually happening.

– We still love the nomadic life, so we’re not hanging up our wellies just yet. Festivals are hard work but they give us so much energy. Please bear with us while we head off for our last run of events for 2022 – watch this space for details in the coming weeks.
