Wingmans announce new Soho restaurant launch
We’re thrilled that Wingmans will be opening the doors to their second bricks and mortar restaurant next week in Soho.
Founded by Ben Ford and David Turofsky in 2015, the wingtastic chicken pioneers have picked up awards at street food competitions including the British Street Food Awards and Wing Fest. The duo also celebrated the release of their first cookery book in early 2020, which is available to buy via Amazon.
The restaurant will be set over two floors and will operate under reduced capacity initially to satisfy social distancing measures. Four private ‘caves’ have also been built into the premises, offering a private dining experience for guests once social distancing measures have been relaxed. The site will also feature a walk-in ‘wing bar.’
Wingmans opened it’s first restaurant in 2018 in Kilburn, North London. The joint is renowned for its signature wings, chicken burgers and selection of sides including crispy tots, spicy Korean cucumbers and truffle mac & cheese with beef short rib.
Sugoi JPN announce plans to expand franchise
The street food innovators who created the showstopping Nori-Taco have set out an ambitious plan to expand their franchise across the capital.
Sugoi JPN founders Felipe Preece and Veronica Silva have secured two sites in London; one in South Wimbledon which is set to open on 6th August, and one in Palmers Green, due to open on 27th August.
Inspired by the cuisines of Tokyo and Latin America, the duo behind Sugoi JPPN began their flourishing business at a site in Bethnal Green. Their signature dish ‘NoriTaco’ is a hybrid between Japanese nori and the Mexican taco, consisting of a crispy seaweed tempura shell shaped like a taco and stuffed with sushi rice and Japanese-Latin toppings.
Both sites will offer takeaway and delivery, alongside tables for dine in customers.
Utter Waffle on coming through Covid-19 despite huge losses: “You have to adapt”
Utter Waffle’s James, who featured in one of our Member Spotlight webinars, has spoken to My London about how, despite losing £50,000 worth of business, he and business partner Julia managed to transform the business into a fast-selling restaurant.
The duo had £50,000 to £60,000 worth of events cancelled over a two to three month period and because of the business’ late start into the sector, Utter waffle was not eligible for any funding from the Government.
A host of street food markets and restaurants have reopened
We’re thrilled that so many of you are now able to open your doors (or get the wheels rolling) on your business once again. We’ve seen so many of our members operating safely, responsibly and to the guidelines that we have set out in our Covid-19 reopening and compliance documents and we’re even more pleased to be part of a sector that goes out of their way to help each other during a crisis. If you need any advice, support or updates regarding reopening your food or drink business during the pandemic, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team.
