Thinking about how to help save the environment can be quite daunting, but taking small steps is as good as anything. If you’ve ever thought “How can I help planet earth?”, these easy environmentally friendly tips are for you.

Eat, sleep, recycle, repeat

Why not pledge to try and minimise the amount you’re chucking away? You can start recycling your packaging for one (pop it in the appropriate bin – just check first on the packaging to see if you can recycle it in your area). Also, many supermarkets have their own recycling points…we can guarantee that your local one does.

Bag it up

If you haven’t already, you TOTEally need to get yourself a reusable bag. Stop buying carrier bags when you go shopping…you could be so much more of a fashionista with your very own bag.

Make a plan, Stan | How to combat food waste and reduce your rubbish

Knowing exactly what you’re going to buy when you head to the supermarket will mean fewer items will end up in the rubbish bin at the end of the week. Channel your inner ‘list lover’ and get writing those lists. To go that extra mile, try and shop locally to support those independent businesses.

Clear it up

How about volunteering for a community clear up? These are great for helping to reduce rubbish pollution. So many of these happen locally – have a look to see whether there is one coming soon near you.

Lightbulb moment

Let there be (no) light. Lots of companies offer energy saving light bulbs…does yours? Also, make it your mission to turn off those switches when you’re not in a room. Although leaving a light on doesn’t use much energy, it all does add up.

Give a gift that keeps on growing | Tree planting

Planting trees is excellent – they provide food, oxygen and even clean our air. You can opt for planting your own tree, or you can make a day of it, join in at a tree planting event, and personally plant your own tree.

To compost or not to compost?

That is the question. Composting is actually a great way to help save the environment.
