Crewe Market Hall will open its doors to the public from 19th May

Crewe Market Hall has recently undergone redevelopment to breathe fresh life into the historic building. Cheshire East secured funding through the Local Economic Partnership to support the redevelopment to deliver a modern offer that’s sympathetic to the heritage of the building as the latest stage of a wider regeneration programme for Crewe town centre.

Market Asset Management (MAM) Ltd have been appointed to operate the market, bringing expertise in markets and food halls to deliver a modern, exciting offer that has something for everyone.

MAM’s Commercial Director, Hayden Ferriby, said “We cannot wait to welcome the public to Crewe Market and introduce the exciting mix of independent businesses who share our vision for the future.

Markets are about more than just buying and selling, they should be the heart of the community and we are passionate about combining food, shopping, entertainment, social and leisure opportunities alongside excellent standards in customer service by passionate, local independent businesses.”

The Market Hall will enjoy a weekly programme of live music and family-friendly entertainment. There will be a series of exhibitions and live demonstrations, speciality pop-up markets and custom retail fairs as well as bringing a programme of inclusive and collaborative community-focused events and activities, truly offering something for everyone.   Step 3 of the government guidelines on the easing of lockdown measures will come into effect on the 17th May, meaning up to six customers or two households will be able to spend time indoors. The official launch event planned for 26th June has been arranged for when the remaining restrictions have further eased.

Councillor Nick Mannion, chair of Cheshire East Council’s economy and growth committee, said: “The reopening of Crewe Market Hall has been hugely anticipated and it is extremely exciting to know that we are now just days away from inviting customers back inside.

“The building’s refurbishment is an integral part of our plans to revitalise Crewe, working alongside our partners, and it has been rewarding to see such an important town centre asset being transformed into the vibrant space it is now. “It has also been fantastic to see such passion from the traders who have joined Market Hall and to hear their excitement at being part of this scheme.

“I wish them every success and hope local people will show them their support by going along and taking a look at all that is now on offer.”
