NCASS is asking for members’ help to encourage their local MPs to raise the importance of independent hospitality and catering businesses in Parliament, and to support our Independent Hospitality Week campaign.

Our public affairs team have reached out to relevant MPs but nothing is as powerful as a personal request from one of their constituents!

Independent Hospitality Week (5th to 11th May 2025)

I am writing as one of your constituents and a member of the Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS) to ask for your support to raise the importance of independent hospitality businesses in Parliament.

Independent hospitality businesses are the backbone of the UK’s everyday economy, not only feeding the nation but also bringing communities together, preventing loneliness, offering diversity, creativity, and innovation. Despite their vital role, independent hospitality is facing significant challenges due to squeezed household incomes, inflation, and rising energy and food prices. Many viable businesses across the UK are struggling to stay afloat.

To support small businesses like mine, Independent Hospitality Week was launched to champion the tens of thousands of independent bars, cafes, restaurants, pubs, street food vendors, and event traders that enrich local communities with their unique brands of hospitality and help to create the vibrant places where people want to live, work, and raise their families.

As my MP I would be grateful if you could attend the Independent Hospitality Week parliamentary drop-in event kindly sponsored by Laurence Turner MP in Room R, Portcullis House on Wednesday 7th May between 12:00 – 16:00.
