Looe Music Festival cancelled two weeks before event

looe cornwall

The organisers of Looe Music Festival have announced that the three-day event will not go ahead this month as the charity behind the festival has ceased trading.

Looe Music Festival has been one of Cornwall’s most popular music festivals for the past eight years. Last year’s event attracted 9,000 live music fans to the event, which was home to six stages and hosted more than 90 artists.

Tickets to this year’s festival, which was due to take place from 21st to 23rd September, sold out in advance. However, ticket-holders were not informed that Looe Music Festival Ltd was dissolved on 30th January 2018 as stated on the Companies House website. Festival-goers have been given just two weeks’ notice of the cancellation; many of whom will have spent hundreds of pounds on tickets, transport and accommodation in order to attend.

It is estimated that in its eight years of running, Looe Music Festival has brought £2.4 million to the local economy every year; a total of more than £20 million in its history. The festival itself makes no profit and is dependent on arts grants and ticket sales to fund the hosting and to pay for security, big name acts and marketing.

Due to feature this year, were The Stranglers, The Waterboys, Mad Dog Mcrea, The Correspondents, Bez DJ Set and Uncle Frank among many others.
