FareShare wins accolade for food redistribution efforts

Charity FareShare was among 16 organisations which were recognised for their exciting and innovative approaches to waste management at annual AD & Biogas Awards.

The award was commended to the food redistribution charity for their efforts in reorganising 16,992 tonnes of viable, surplus food which would have otherwise gone to waste. In 2017, FareShare helped to feed 770,390 vulnerable people every week; thereby enabling the UK charity sector to make an estimated saving of £28.7million.

Lindsay Boswell, CEO at FareShare, said: “We are thrilled to have been recognised by the industry at the AD and Biogas Awards.

2017 saw us redistribute even more surplus food than any other year before, providing it to frontline charities across the UK, so to win Best Food Waste Supply Chain is testament to the tireless efforts of all our network in making our vision of reducing food waste to fight hunger a reality.”

The charity recently launched ActiveAte, a nationwide campaign providing meals for over 20,000 children across the UK who are at risk of food poverty throughout the summer holiday period. If you would like to find out how you can provide surplus food to help feed children this summer, please visit
