BBC and Channel 5 on the lookout for caterers to participate in new shows

The production company responsible for Million Pound Menu is searching for mobile caterers to take part in a new BBC programme.

‘Call That Hard Work’ will follow three people with different careers as they swap jobs for a day each. At the end of a shift, you will rate the job out of 10, based on work environment, physical and mental demands. The person with the highest score will be deemed as having ‘the hardest job’ and will win £1,000 cash prize.

Electric Ray, the company making the series are on the lookout for a mobile caterer who takes pride in what they do, are full of energy and up for a challenge. The programme will also provide an opportunity to demonstrate to the nation what goes on behind the scenes in the street food industry.

A selection of NCASS members have appeared on Million Pound Menu, including BBQ Dreamz, Wholesome Junkies, The Cheese Wheel, Greedy Khao, The Duck Truck and Skaus, amongst others.  

To be eligible to take part in the show, you must be a resident aged 18+ and available to film for three consecutive days in September. For more information or to express an interest, email

Channel 5 is also on the hunt for individuals who are just starting up in the catering industry or looking to leave the rat race for a new challenge. The show, ‘Twice the Life for Half the Price,’ will follow six families as they swap their 9-5 desk jobs for countryside living and a career that they’re passionate about. 

Participants in the show will benefit from help and advice from TV presenter, Kate Humble, who gave up city living for a life in rural Wales. For further details on how to apply, email:
